Towson's 5-0 fourth quarter too much for Vermont, 14-7; Goettelmann, Prout lift Loyola over Butler, 15-12; State


BURLINGTON, Vt. -- Todd Paradise (Fallston) netted three goals and added two assists to lift Towson over host Vermont, 14-7, in America East Conference men's lacrosse action yesterday.

The Tigers (3-7, 2-2) led 3-1 after the first quarter but the Catamounts (4-6, 1-3) outscored Towson 4-2 in the second quarter to tie the score at 5.

Towson enjoyed a 4-2 scoring advantage in the third quarter before shutting down Vermont's offense in the final quarter.

Loyola 15, Butler 12: Tim Goettelmann scored five goals and Gavin Prout had four to lift the visiting No. 4 Greyhounds.

Mount St. Mary's 16, Quinnipiac 8: Nick DeFelice (Towson) scored two goals and added five assists to lead the Mountaineers (8-6, 8-0) over the host Braves (5-6, 4-5) in MAAC action.


UMBC 12, Richmond 8: Jamie Gerhart (Bel Air) scored three goals and assisted on another to pace the Retrievers over the Spiders in the Northeast Conference.

Mount St. Mary's 24, Central Connecticut 13: Erica Hensley scored her 100th career goal and five others to lead the Mountaineers (7-6, 4-2 Northeast Conference) over the Blue Devils (1-9, 0-5).
