The 2000 session of the Maryland General Assembly had its share of dramatic moments. But over the course of three months in Annapolis, there are far more mostly unremarkable moments.
Sun photographer Linda Coan covered the legislative session daily. It's an assignment she cherishes, she says, even though "it rarely makes for a spectacular photo opportunity."
The challenge, she says, comes in making a great photograph when the same people are sitting in the same seats every day. The photos on this page show the results of that effort.
And she says she's learned something else covering the legislature: That pomp and politics notwithstanding, the people of the State House "are just like you and me, and that's what I enjoy seeing."
