Man arrested, charged in gas station robbery

An Elkridge man suspected in the robbery of a gas station in his neighborhood was arrested at his home over the weekend, Howard County police said.

On Saturday, police charged Jeffrey Michael Lewis, 40, of the 6000 block of Rock Glen Drive with armed robbery, felony theft, a weapons violation and first-degree assault.

He was being held yesterday at the county detention center on $100,000 bail.

According to police, a gunman walked into the Elkridge Shell gas station in the 6200 block of Washington Blvd. at 11 p.m. Friday. He threatened the 31-year-old clerk and stole money from the register.

Witnesses saw the gunman leave the parking lot in a Toyota Corolla with Maryland license plates HCV 250, police said. Detectives traced the car and waited for the driver to arrive home.
