Pimlico weekend

Today: Rangeley Lady, a $25,000 claim by the Tony Dutrow stable last December, is the likely favorite for the 13th running of the $75,000 Primonetta Stakes. Only five distaffers passed the entry box for the 6-furlong dash.

After Rangeley Lady became the property of Larry Brafman via claim, the mare promptly reeled off three more wins, including an upset in the Toes Knows Stakes.

Rick Wilson will again handle the 6-year-old daughter of Carnivalay.

Strong opposition is expected from Exclusive Eskimo, a New York shipper from trainer Mike Gorham's stable. Northern Mist, Potomac Bend and Ragtime Doll complete the lineup.

Tomorrow: A pair of non-winners-of-two which recorded impressive victories in their debuts are among nine 3-year-old fillies entered for the Smart Halo Stakes.

The seventh running of the 6-furlong affair is worth $60,000. An extra $20,000 was up for grabs had a Maryland-bred won, but not a single state-bred was entered.

Folly Dollar, trained by Gerald Delp, and Good Game, from Tony Dutrow's stable, were very impressive fillies in winning their debuts wire-to-wire.

Cedar Knolls, a daughter of Broad Brush that has raced exclusively on the New York circuit, may be the post-time favorite.

Her last appearance was an impressive victory over allowance runners at Aqueduct.

Timely's Pic, a Home Team Stable color-bearer with a four-race winning streak in the claiming ranks, is also likely to draw support.
