Shootings claim lives of 4 people


Four people were killed by gunfire in Baltimore yesterday -- two brothers in the early morning in West Baltimore, a young man later in the day in Charles Village and a final victim just before midnight near the county line on Eastern Avenue.

The deaths brought the city's homicide count to 75 for the year.

Police identified the two brothers shot and killed near Mondawmin Mall early yesterday as Lamont M. Walker, 33, and Cordell Walker, 31, both of Baltimore.

Roy E. Thompson, 28, of the 1600 block of Smallwood St. was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault, and two counts of using a handgun in commission of a felony.

Last night, police were investigating the death of a young man who was shot in the neck in the 400 block of Whitridge Ave. about 7: 45 p.m. Police did not release the man's identity.

Police also were investigating a double shooting at the Eastwood Inn, 6804 Eastern Ave. near Dundalk, around 11: 20 p.m. that left one person dead.
