Robbery/shooting: A motorist, 37, was in his 1993 Honda in the 2700 block of N. Calvert St. about 9 p.m. Monday when a passenger he knows robbed him of an undisclosed sum of money and shot him in the chest. A friend, who was nearby, drove the victim to Union Memorial Hospital, where he was in stable condition yesterday. No arrest had been made.
Theft/arrest: A Montgomery County woman was arrested Monday and charged with trying to steal nearly $180 worth of music tapes from Bibelot in the 2400 block of Boston St. The store manager saw her using a carton cutter to remove anti-theft strips from the tapes and detained her for police. Kathleen Shield, 21, of Silver Spring was processed at Central Booking and Intake Center.
Burglary: Someone broke into video machines Monday in a room at Harborway Inn in the 700 block of W. Pratt St., causing more than $2,000 damage and stealing $40 in coins.
Theft: A laptop computer valued at more than $3,000 was stolen overnight Monday from a desk at Teligent Inc. in the 200 block of N. Charles St.
Carjacking: A woman, 69, was stopped in the 4200 block of Towanda Ave. about noon Monday when a gunman forced her out of her 1986 Chrysler Fifth Avenue with tags 159 AGT and drove away. He wore a yellow coat with white stripes and a multicolored beanie.
Robbery: A man armed with an unknown weapon robbed another man, 86, of $15 about 6 p.m. Monday in the 2400 block of Denison St.
Burglary: Jewelry valued at more than $1,000 was stolen Monday from a house in the 6000 block of Berkley Ave.
Robbery: A gunman robbed a man, 38, of $600 about 7: 30 p.m. Sunday in the 1000 block of Hillman St. Police were seeking a man known as "Ronnie" who frequents a vacant house in the 600 block of E. Chase St.

Robbery: A man robbed another man, 27, of a 20-inch gold necklace and a gold bracelet with the letter "D," all valued at more than $80 about 10 p.m. Sunday on the parking lot at Golden Ring Mall.
Robbery: A gunman forced the night clerk to give up the undisclosed contents of two cash registers about 9 p.m. Sunday at Susse Chalet Inn in the first block of Philadelphia Court. He drove away in a black four-door Acura.
Burglary: More than $200 was stolen Monday from at least two video machines at Free State Indoor Sports Arena in the 5800 block of Allender Road.
Burglary: Computer and office equipment, all of unknown value, were stolen from a trailer owned by Joseph B. Fay & Co. and parked in the 700 block of Belfast Road in Sparks overnight Sunday.
Burglary: Computer equipment and other property were stolen Monday from a townhouse in the 1800 block of Rambling Ridge Lane.
