Chamber will hold forum on business forecast

The Baltimore/Washington Corridor Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a forum, "Business Forecast 2000: Our Economic Outlook," from 7: 30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Sheraton International Hotel at the Baltimore-Washington International Airport.

Among the issues to be discussed are regional transportation, investment in high technology growth, competition for regional and national business headquarters and divisions, labor availability, education and training, quality of life and economic objectives.

The cost is $35 for members, $45 for others.

Genetic engineering is topic at breakfast meeting

The Howard County Farm Bureau Inc. will hold its Agribusiness Breakfast at 8 a.m. Thursday in the dining hall at the Howard County Fairgrounds, West Friendship.

Galen Dively, professor of entomology and integrated pest management at the University of Maryland, College Park, will speak about public perception and acceptance of genetic engineering.

The meeting, open to the public, costs $6, which is payable at the door. Reservations are due by Wednesday.

New company established to help run errands

Becky Gould, president of the Ellicott City-based To Do Errand Service Inc., has announced the start of her company.

The errand service will shop for gifts, deliver packages, make appointments and shop for groceries.

A full-time mother, Gould said she realized the need for the service when she saw the schedules of friends who held full-time jobs.

Dr. Rustin Glass has joined Morrison Chiropractic in Ellicott City as a newly licensed doctor of chiropractic. He will focus on problems caused by long hours of computer or desk work.

Kevin J. Major has been named assistant vice president, commercial lending, for the Columbia Bank, a commercial bank headquartered in Howard County. He will work with small- to medium-sized businesses in the Baltimore metropolitan area.
