Johns Hopkins secured its first trip to the NCAA field hockey tournament since 1993 by outlasting Gettysburg, 1-0, yesterday on penalty strokes in the Centennial Conference championship game at Homewood Field.

Amy Bruschi had the clinching goal for the Blue Jays (16-2), who won the penalty strokes round, 3-2, after goalkeeper Katie Retar stopped a shot by the Bullets' Kristy Moore.

Hopkins set single-season records for wins (16) and shutouts (12).
