Seniors Rayvon Johnson and Marvin Charles scored three touchdowns each as fifth-ranked Annapolis walloped visiting Glen Burnie, 42-0, last night.
A thunderous downpour did not hamper the Panthers' running game as Johnson gained 154 yards on 14 carries in the first half and sat out the rest of the game. He scored on touchdown runs of 23, 19, and 10 yards. Johnson has more than 1,200 yards and 20 touchdowns this season.
The tandem of Charles, a tight end, and senior quarterback Mike Phaneuf connected for three touchdowns totaling 69 yards. Annapolis (8-0) gained 334 yards of total offense.
No. 3 Milford Mill 28, Dulaney 0. The Millers (8-0) held Dulaney (0-8) to only three first downs and 73 total yards in a Baltimore County Class 3A/4A league game in the rain at CCBC-Catonsville. The Millers had four interceptions, with Lamarr Jones getting two. Darryl Moore had 12 tackles and two sacks.
Chesapeake-AA at No. 15 Severna Park, suspended: The Falcons led the Cougars, 18-0, with 10: 09 left in the third quarter when the game was halted by lightning. The game will resume today, but a starting time was not determined.
North County at Old Mill, suspended: After two lightning delays, followed by more lightning and a downpour, the North County-Old Mill game was suspended last night in Millersville with 7: 28 left in the third quarter and the Patriots leading, 14-6.
The game will resume at that point at 7: 15 tonight. It is a crucial game in the Class 4A East Region. North County (6-1), with 58 playoff points, is ranked second, and Old Mill (5-2) is fifth with 46 points.
Old Mill's Kelvin Collins ran for 167 yards and both touchdowns (eight and five yards) in the first half to give him 21 touchdowns, breaking the school record of 20 set by Boo Beverly in 1990. Collins has 20 rushing touchdowns, also a school record.
North County junior quarterback Mike Pfisterer also set a school record with his 38th career touchdown pass -- a 14-yarder to Dave Bush. It was Pfisterer's county-leading 21st touchdown pass.
South River at Broadneck, suspended: Lightning forced these neighborhood rivals to postpone. The game will resume at 7 p.m. on Monday. The Bruins led the Seahawks 7-3 with 2: 47 left in the third quarter.
