Quarterback Richard Johnson scored on a 55-yard run with five seconds left in the third quarter to lift No. 3 Milford Mill to a 24-19 victory over Woodlawn in a Baltimore County 3A-4A League game.
Johnson, rated the state's No. 1 player by The ACC Journal, and, No. 4 in the country among cornerback recruits by The National Recruiting Advisor, bounced off a would-be tackler and sprinting down Milford Mill's sideline for the game-winning score. He had been limited to 5 rushing yards until then.
Johnson got the best of Woodlawn's own star attraction, quarterback Vince Fuller, who rushed for a game-high 100 yards and one touchdown on 18 carries, and was 9-for-14 passing for 167 yards and another score.
The victory kept Milford MIll unbeaten at 7-0 overall and 6-0 in the league.
Woodlawn fell to 4-3 overall and 4-2 in the league.
No. 9 McDonogh 42, John Carroll 14: Scott Dolch passed for 300 yards and five touchdowns for the defending Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association B-Conference champion Eagles (6-0).
No. 10 Wilde Lake 13, No. 8 Oakland Mills 10, OT: Mario Merrills' game-winning 10-yard score lifted the Wildecats (6-1, 5-1 Howard County) over the visiting Scorpions (5-2, 4-2).
