Columbia-based Manekin to build supermarket
Manekin LLC has been awarded a contract to construct a Metro Food Market in Ellicott City. The new 57,642-square-foot grocery store is planned for U.S. 40 between Ridge Road and Rogers Avenue in Ellicott City.
Manekin Construction will build the store and make site improvements for the property's developer, Harrison & Grass. Manekin broke ground on the project in July and expects to complete construction by February.
The Columbia-based company has announced an expansion of its construction division to meet increased demand.
Job Corps competition to be held Wednesday
Adams and Associates Inc., a contractor for the U.S. Department of Labor and manager of the Woodstock Job Corps Center, has announced a Job Corps Academic Olympics competition from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Sheraton Columbia Hotel, 10207 Wincopin Circle.
An awards dinner will be from 5: 30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The Job Corps, a voluntary residential training program for out-of-school youth ages 16-24, is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor. The program offers vocational and academic training.
Tina Shell has been named vice president and director of customer service for Amerix Corp., a service provider to the credit counseling industry. She comes from First USA Bank, where she was vice president of operations at a card-member services call center.
Shawn Timothy Kelley has opened a new ad agency, Imagine, in Ellicott City. Kelley has helped produce ads for Holmes air purifiers, Dover Downs, Len Stoler, Cross Keys Inn, Maryland National Bank and other companies.
Jennifer Realo has been named vice president and managing director in charge of quality for the Amerix Corp. She will focus on quality measurements and analysis. She came to the company from USF&G;, where she managed process and work-flow improvement for the Family and Business Insurance Group.
