A 26-year-old woman who died after being struck by a car while jogging near the Johns Hopkins University early Friday was identified by authorities yesterday as Clare C. Furay, of the 2900 block of Guilford Ave.
Furay died at Maryland Shock Trauma Center at 3: 45 p.m. Friday, hospital officials said. She suffered severe head injuries after being struck by a car at 8: 50 a.m. near 33rd and Charles streets, police said.
A police spokeswoman said reports indicate that Furay was jogging in place at a median and stepped out onto Charles Street, where she was struck by a southbound Honda Accord driven by Saul W. Brusilow, 72, of the 4800 block of Keswick Road.
The driver was not cited.
Furay was living and working with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps, on Guilford Avenue. A volunteer there who asked not to be named described the corps as a faith-based community volunteer service.
The volunteer said Furay was from St. Louis, Mo., and had arrived in Baltimore in August to participate in the yearlong Jesuit program.
