Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes in Baltimore city and county.

Baltimore City

Northwestern District

Arrest: Responding to a report of a man selling narcotics in the 3400 block of Oakmont Ave. in Pimlico about 11 a.m yesterday, officers saw a man who matched a description provided by witnesses and arrested him as he was about to enter his residence in the 3500 block. Inside the residence, officers recovered three pounds of suspected marijuana valued at more than $3,000, suspected drug-packaging material and more than $300. Anthony Charles Lewis, 20, of the 3500 block of Oakmont Ave. was charged with possession with intent to distribute and simple possession and was held at the Central Booking and Intake Center. Police said Lewis will also be charged in a warrant with felony narcotics violations stemming from "Operation Doubleplay," a drug initiative in August to curb violence in the Park Heights and Pimlico communities.

Eastern District

Shooting: Raymond Carter, 38, of the 800 block of E. 29th St. was in the 1800 block of N. Spring St. about 8 p.m. Monday when one of several men nearby fired a handgun, wounding him in the upper left leg. Carter ran a block north to the 1400 block of E. North Ave., where he collapsed and was found minutes later by police. He was treated at Johns Hopkins Hospital. No arrest had been made.

Southwestern District

Burglary: After removing an air conditioner from a bedroom window, a thief entered a house Monday evening in the 2100 block of Lyndhurst St. and stole a videocassette recorder, stereo equalizer, 9-mm Taurus handgun, cellular phone, cash and several pieces of jewelry, all valued at more than $7,300.

Theft from vehicle: A compact disc player, more than 60 compact discs, sunglasses, a saddle and several pieces of riding equipment, all valued at nearly $3,800, were stolen from the trunk of a 1999 Chevrolet sedan parked in the 1000 block of Joh Ave. between Sunday and Monday.

Northern District

Burglary: A gold wedding ring with diamonds, a combination television/videocassette recorder, a 20-inch screen TV, 200 compact discs and a second videocassette recorder, all valued at nearly $10,000, were stolen Monday from a house in the 1100 block of Gleneagle Road.

Baltimore County

Parkville Precinct

Burglary: A 25-inch-screen television, two laptop computers and several pieces of jewelry, all valued at nearly $7,000, were stolen Monday from an apartment in the first block of Shawnee Court in the Doncaster Village Apartments.

Burglary: A 35-inch-screen television, stereo receiving equipment and speakers, all valued at nearly $1,500, were stolen Monday from a house in the 4100 block of Silver Spring Road.

Garrison Precinct

Burglary: An 1899 sterling silver tea set, valued at $10,000, was stolen from a home in the 3000 block of Benson Mill Road in Reisterstown between Friday and Monday.

For the record

Arrest: Laquan Johnson, 20, of the 4300 block of Ridgewood Ave. in Northwest Baltimore was recently arrested on a warrant charging him with first-degree murder in the July 3 shooting of James Edward Townes, 39, of the 200 block of Spring Court, in the 3500 block of W. Belvedere Ave. Johnson is being held without bail at the Baltimore Detention Center.
