A bus company employee apparently tripped a mechanism controlling the front door of a bus she was cleaning, causing it to close on her neck and kill her, Anne Arundel County police said.
Cynthia M. Sienkiewicz, 45, of the 100 block of Arundel Road in Pasadena, who worked for Huber's Bus Service in the first block of Bremer Drive in Ferndale, was pronounced dead at the scene, said Lt. Jeffrey Kelly, a county police spokesman.
Kelly said Sienkiewicz worked as an aide on the company's school buses and cleaned school and charter buses three days a week. He said she reported for cleaning duties about 4: 30 p.m.
Kelly said Sienkiewicz was outside the bus and appeared to be leaning into the doorway when she apparently tripped the mechanism. He said employees found her about 6: 30 p.m. and a company mechanic activated an outside emergency switch to open the door and free her body.
