A Reese man was seriously injured by an apparent friend during a fight and biting incident early yesterday, authorities said.
Gary K. Eaton Jr. of the 2000 block of Old Westminster Pike was in serious and stable condition at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, a hospital spokeswoman said.
According to charging documents filed by state police at the District Court of Carroll County in Westminster, Eaton was scheduled for surgery to have a portion of his left ear reattached yesterday.
Troopers reported going at 7: 22 a.m. to an apartment on Old Westminster Pike, where Eaton was found outside with wounds to his head and back. He was unable to walk and, when asked if he had been shot or stabbed, he said, "I don't know. He just kept beating me."
After Eaton was flown by MedEvac helicopter to Baltimore, troopers went to his rear second-floor apartment and found a man sitting in a chair.
The man had an odor of alcohol on his breath and blood on his beige shorts, but did not appear to have any injuries that could account for the blood, troopers said.
Robert J. Prickett, 29, of the 400 block of Valley Meadow Circle was arrested on charges of first- and second-degree assault and reckless endangerment, court records showed.
Prickett also was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after troopers said they found a pipe suspected of containing marijuana residue.
He was being held at the county detention center in lieu of $25,000, court records showed.
