Daniel J. Rzepkowski Sr., 66, Pasadena letter carrier


Daniel John Rzepkowski Sr., a retired letter carrier, died of cancer Thursday at home in Pasadena. He was 66.

The Baltimore native graduated from Glen Burnie High School in 1950 and then served four years in the Navy followed by four more in the Naval Reserve.

During his 28 years with the U.S. Postal Service, he became acquainted with many of the Pasadena residents on his route. He retired in 1990.

Starting at age 10 and for most of his teen-age years, Mr. Rzepkowski worked at his parents' package goods store, Turner's Liquors in Glen Burnie.

He was a member of Father McGivney Council 7025 of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed gardening and home improvement projects.

He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, where a Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 a.m. today.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, the former Joan Evelyn Smith; three sons, Daniel Rzepkowski Jr. of Berlin, Thomas Rzepkowski of Severna Park and Michael Rzepkowski of Stevensville; three daughters, Ellen Rice of Ellicott City, Kathleen Moringiello of Chesapeake Beach and Barbara Lloyd of Hagerstown; a brother, Walt Rzepkowski, and a sister, Dorothy Smith, both of Pasadena; and 14 grandchildren.
