Time: 1 p.m., chs. 45, 5.
Line: Redskins by 2 1/2.
Vs. spread (1998): Cowboys 8-8; Redskins 7-9.
Series: Cowboys lead, 43-31-2.
Last meeting: Cowboys won, 23-7, on Dec. 27, 1998, in Dallas.
Outlook: One of the best rivalries in the history of the league has lost some of its spark, but this is still one of the most important games of the week. The Cowboys, Redskins and Giants are all close in talent level in the NFC East, but the Cowboys, especially on offense, have an edge because of their aging but still skilled veterans. Last season Dallas' offensive line allowed a league-low 19 sacks and might be better this year. But Washington is playing at home, where it has won four of its past five games. The home cooking should get it done for the Redskins.
Notable: Dallas RB Emmitt Smith needs 174 yards to pass former Cowboy Tony Dorsett for fourth on the NFL's career rushing list (12,739). Redskins' Norv Turner has a 32-47-1 regular-season record, worst among active coaches.
COWBOYS: Out: TE Mike Lucky (foot); CB Kevin Smith (back). Doubtful: CB Deion Sanders (toe). Questionable: LB Quentin Coryatt (Achilles). Probable: WR Chris Brazzell (knee); S Kenny Wheaton (knee).
REDSKINS: Out: RB Larry Bowie (ankle). Questionable: CB Tito Paul (knee). Probable: TE Stephen Alexander (knee); DE Kenard Lang (ankle).
