Joseph Gold, 107, the nation's oldest living Marine and one of the few remaining World War I veterans, died Wednesday in Tenafly, N.J., of pneumonia. Mr. Gold, who served with the American Expeditionary Force in the Battle of Belleau Wood in June 1918, was one of two servicemen to receive France's Legion of Honor award last month. Marine records show Gold was the oldest living Marine.

B. F. "Sandy" Coggan, 81, who led the Convair Division of General Dynamics during the aerospace boom of the 1950s and went on to advise the Defense Department and United Nations, died Aug. 22 in San Diego from complications of Alzheimer's disease.

Born Bernard Frederick Coggan in Gary, Ind., he conducted worldwide audits of military hospitals and radar installations as a consultant to the Department of Defense in 1961. As a United Nations adviser in 1966, he was part of a team assigned to audit a five-year economic plan of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi of India.
