Tove Hansen, 88, who helped thousands of Jews escape the Nazis in her native Denmark by smuggling them into neutral Sweden, died Saturday in Los Angeles, a family spokesman said yesterday.

Judge Paul J. Driscoll, 90, a retired Connecticut Superior Court judge who devoted his life to public service, died in Colchester, Conn. He was appointed to the Superior Court in 1966. He served until 1979 when he reached the mandatory retirement age.

Alexandre Lagoya, 70, a self-taught French guitar player known for his mastery of classical and popular music, died in Paris Tuesday after a long illness.

Norman Wexler, 73, a screenwriter and playwright whose work included "Saturday Night Fever" and "Serpico," died Monday of a heart attack.

Guy Durosier, 68, a Haitian singer and composer whom French singer Edith Piaf once called "the living breath of Haiti," died in Seattle on Aug. 19 of complications from lung cancer.

Constantine "Dino" Nicandros, 66, a former Conoco chairman who was a prominent patron of the arts in Houston, died of cancer Monday in Houston.

Aldine McCrary Pickard ,89, who served 24 years in the Georgia House of Representatives, died Sunday in Columbus.

Thomas Pope II, 86, a former South Carolina House speaker, died Monday in Newberry, S.C. He was first elected to the House in the 1930s and served as speaker in 1949 and 1950. He ran an unsuccessful campaign for governor in 1950 and served as a judge in 1955 and 1956.

H: George M. Wilson, 85, who helped found the Rev. Billy Graham's evangelical association, died Tuesday in Minneapolis. He was executive vice president of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association from its founding until 1987. In 1950, as business manager of Northwestern College in Minneapolis, he helped Mr. Graham -- then president of the college -- incorporate the association, which serves as headquarters for Mr. Graham's crusades.
