Tigers update

The Orioles make their last visit to the decrepit but historic corner of Michigan and Trumbull, a place they threatened to tear down in their previous trip this season when they outscored the Tigers, 20-11, while winning two of three. The Orioles have hit 15 home runs but averaged only five runs a game in seven games against the AL's worst team, and their pitching has held the Tigers to a .232 average. Erickson's 9-2 career record in Detroit includes a 5-0 shutout on May 9, marking his first win of the season and the only victory among his first nine decisions. The Tigers have split their last eight games but are only 7-15 this month. They return home from a West Coast trip just in time to learn the results of starting pitcher Justin Thompson's shoulder surgery, another low note in a season including three complete games, a 5.24 ERA and a league-high 168 home runs allowed.
