Case experiences highs and lows of learning on job

THE BALTIMORE SUN

The crash course continued yesterday for Ravens No. 3 quarterback Stoney Case, who has replaced Wally Richardson and could get up to a quarter's worth of work against the Carolina Panthers on Saturday.

Case got his first day of extensive work yesterday. Predictably, he had his ups and downs. He made an ill-advised pass that Ray Lewis picked off, then hit Brandon Stokley with pinpoint accuracy in traffic for a touchdown.

"It's been kind of baptism by fire," said Case, who was signed last week. "The first reps I got [on Monday] were in the two-minute drill. All of a sudden, I'm calling my own plays. Today, I got some extended time. Some plays I was more comfortable with than others. I haven't been here for an extended period of time, but I won't let it be [an excuse]."
