Marvelous marinades add zing

THE BALTIMORE SUN

* Item: McCormick Grill Mates marinades

* What you get: 1/2 cup to 3/4 cup marinade

* Cost: About $1

* Preparation time: 30 minutes or more

* Review: McCormick turns grilling into three simple steps with its extensive collection of marinades. You just blend ingredients like water, oil and vinegar with the prepackaged spice mixes. Add beef, pork, chicken or even lamb. Pop the whole thing into the fridge for a half hour or longer. Then grill, broil or even bake. The Oriental mix spiced up boneless chicken breasts with traditional teriyaki flavor. The Montreal Steak added a peppery zing to grilled steaks. The Southwest blend, mixed with brown sugar and used as a dry rub, added a bit of fire to boneless pork chops. Other flavors include Mesquite and Zesty Herb, Montreal Chicken, Montreal Chicken With Roasted Garlic and Spicy Montreal Steak.
