Man accused of sexual abuse freed after posting bail

THE BALTIMORE SUN

A 36-year-old Westminster man accused of sexually abusing his 12-year-old stepdaughter for more than six months was freed yesterday after posting 10 percent on his $50,000 bail, court records show.

The man, who is not being named to protect the child's privacy, was arrested Wednesday on charges of child abuse, second- and third-degree sexual offense, perverted practice and second-degree assault. He was held overnight at the Carroll County Detention Center in lieu of a $50,000 bond at 100 percent until a bail review hearing in District Court yesterday.

According to charging documents, the girl told police last week that her stepfather has been molesting and abusing her since about Dec. 1 at her home in another area of Carroll County. He has since moved.

Conditions of his pretrial supervision ordered yesterday by Judge Marc G. Rasinsky included the man having no contact with the girl or anyone younger than age 18, court records show.
