Jules Verne
(1828-1905)
Verne's stories were imaginative and in part scientific. Young people enjoyed the adventures, which were extraordinarily prophetic.
He wrote Voyage au centre de la terre, also known as "Voyage to the Center of the Earth," in 1864. In 1870, his "Mysterious Island" appeared. Verne wrote "Around the World in Eighty Days" and is also very well known for "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea."
