Existing-home sales rise in Baltimore, decline in Washington

While June sales of existing homes in the Baltimore area increased 14 percent over May, existing-home sales in the Washington area declined.

According to the Greater Capital Area Association of Realtors, sales of single-family homes and condominium units in Washington declined 12 percent from May, but exceeded June 1998 figures by 12 percent.

Montgomery County sales in June also decreased when compared with May, but were up 11 percent over the same period last year.

Ahmanson Residential Development, developers of Owings Mills New Town, has given Baltimore County a check for $500,000 toward recreation facilities for the future New Town Elementary School, as part of its obligation in the development authorization granted by the county in 1986.

Coldwell Banker Real Estate Corp. signed a master franchise agreement with Zerf & Nir Ltd. for the development of franchised real estate offices throughout Israel. The new Coldwell Banker-Israel is the company's first entry into the Middle East.

Moore Warfield & Glick Inc. reported a monthly sales record in May when sales exceeded $7.5 million in its Delaware offices. Sales volume in its Fenwick and Bethany offices nearly doubled from last year, with May year-to-date sales topping $25 million. Also, Vickie York was named the company's outstanding sales agent for May with nearly $2 million in monthly sales.

O'Conor, Piper & Flynn ERA said associates Kathy Langsner, of its Severna Park office, and Cindy Benton, of the Annapolis office, won second and third place respectively in the ERA Listing Contest for May out of a field of 7,000 in the company's northeast region.

The Property Management Program of the Community College of Baltimore County's Dundalk campus is enrolling students for six fall semester courses: Introduction to Business, Principles of Supervision, Human Relations/Organizations, Business Law I, Human Resources Management, and Cooperative Education I and II.
