July 18, 1849: BALTIMORE AND OHIO RAILROAD -- FURTHER CONTRACTS -- The Board of Directors of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, at their session yesterday, the Patriot says, awarded the contracts upon their second letting, embracing 25 miles of the line west of Cumberland.

July 21, 1899: The Board of Directors of the German Amerian Bank, 524 S. Broadway, have adopted the designs for a new bank building that were furnished by architect Charles E. Cassell. In a short while the business of the bank will be transferred to the first floor of the Whitehall Building, Bank Street, near Broadway.

July 26, 1949 -- NEGRO FILES SUIT TO ATTEND U. OF M. -- Complaining that he has been denied admission to the University of Maryland school of pharmacy because of his color, a Baltimore Negro yesterday sued to compel the university to act on his application for admission. In the suit filed in City Court, Richard Tyson, 20, of the 2100 block Etting St., said the university has refused to act on his application, which he submitted last March 7.
