A Baltimore County teen-ager was killed Friday night when the car she was a passenger in veered off a Howard County road and slammed into a tree.

Amber Lynn Duncan, 17, of the 2100 block of Northland Road was pronounced dead at the scene of the 11: 45 p.m. crash, Howard County police said.

The driver, Ryan Christopher Sumida, 18, of Woodstock, was headed north on College Avenue when he lost control of the 1987 Honda CRX and it crashed into a tree.

Sumida suffered minor injuries.

As of last night, state police had reported no other fatal accidents during the holiday weekend.
