Women's business network names top 1999 volunteers

Attorney Janet L. Eveland and Carolyn West Price, president of IMPACT Marketing & Public Relations, were honored as 1999 Volunteers of the Year at the Business Women's Network Volunteer Appreciation Tea June 16.

The women were honored for their efforts on behalf of the Business Women's Network and its activities.

Eveland has practiced law for 16 years. She is co-chairwoman of the Howard County Conference for Women 2000 and past president of Women Business Owners of Prince George's County and Women Construction Owners and Executives, Maryland Chapter.

Price is founder of IMPACT Marketing & Public Relations and an adjunct professor of marketing at Loyola College in Baltimore.

Management expert leads congregation's workshop

Betty Myers, president of Kaleidosystems Inc., a Columbia-based management consulting company, recently led a workshop to train 18 facilitators at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Columbia.

The congregation's goal was to poll its 300 members on how it should improve its facilities.

After the training program, the facilitators led information-exchange sessions at members' homes to explore the options.

The company provides sessions to address issues of leadership, personal development, team effectiveness and managing change.

UM entrepreneurship center moves to new address

The Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Maryland is moving.

The new address is Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship, Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland, 4321 Hartwick Road, Suite 300, College Park 20740.

People

Julia L. Sheppard has been named cash management officer for The Columbia Bank, which has its headquarters in Howard County. She will be based in the bank's Town Center branch.

Judith Britzhas joined Cylex Inc., a Columbia-based manufacturer of products for monitoring human immune-system status, as president and chief executive officer. She was a vice president and officer of American Standard Cos., business leader at Sienna Biotech Inc. in Columbia, and director of Worldwide Research and Development at Becton Dickinson.
