Federalsburg police say man shot daughter and killed himself

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Police in Federalsburg said yesterday that a retired steel worker fatally shot his daughter in their Caroline County home Saturday and then killed himself.

Officer Robert Horseman of the Federalsburg City Police Department said evidence gathered at the Charlotte Avenue home of Charles L. Rasin Sr., 67, indicated he shot his daughter, Rosemarie E. Rasin, 44, in the head with a .22-caliber handgun and then shot himself in the chest with a .30-caliber rifle.

Both weapons were found near the bodies, Horseman said.

Horseman said Rasin's wife, Betty, was awakened by the gunshots about 5: 30 a.m. and found her husband's body in the living room and her daughter's in the kitchen.

Horseman said the father left no note. He said the daughter, the mother of one child, had recently decided to move out of the home.
