Big Brothers, Sisters

THE BALTIMORE SUN

There were big brothers and big sisters everywhere you looked in the banquet room at the Double Tree Inn at the Colonnade. Many of these "senior siblings" were being honored for their efforts by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Maryland, the organization that pairs adult volunteers with children in need.

"It is just like real family," said Big Brother Gene Daniels, as he slung his arm over Dennis Hill, his "little brother" for the past nine years.

Among the 100 other "family members" enjoying the reception and awards ceremony at the Big Celebration were Robin Tomechko, president and CEO of BBBS's Central Maryland chapter; Garry Voith, board chair; Philip Grantham, immediate past board chair; Thomas McKenna, national executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America; honorees Tina Young, Tiffany House, Don Juan Jenkins, Caulett Elliott, Luis Valdes, Michael Waterfield and William Waterfield; Raymond Cain, a 31-year BBBS volunteer; Sherrie Robinson Bailey, Baltimore assistant state's attorney; and Rob Bostick, BGE marketing manager.
