Volunteers needed

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Schools and literacy programs seek volunteers to help children and adults improve reading skills and to assist in related projects.

Among them are:

South Baltimore Learning Center, 28 E. Ostend St., which seeks volunteers 18 or older, with a high school or General Educational Development diploma and able to commit at least a year to the program tutoring adults in basic reading, spelling and math. Volunteers also are needed for a career mentoring program to help job-seeking students with resume and interview skills. Contact: Jaimie Watkins, 410-625-4215.

Huntingdon Baptist Church, 400 E. 31st St., which needs tutors from high school-age to adult to help elementary pupils with reading from 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays in its Save A Youth program. Contact: Rebecca Bruce, 410-366-3072.

If your school or organization is seeking volunteer reading tutors and would like to be included in this listing, call Sundial, 410- 783-1800, and enter code 6130.
