Health department temporarily shuts 3 food establishments for violations

The Anne Arundel County Department of Health temporarily closed three food service establishments because of emergency circumstances discovered during inspections June 1-15.

* Sam's Market, 949 Mayo Road, Edgewater, was closed June 7 because of a lack of potable water. The market reopened the next day.

* Selby Sub Shoppe, 945 Mayo Road, Edgewater, was closed June 7 because of a lack of potable water. The shop opened the next day.

* Ruby Tuesday, 2025 Somerville Road, Annapolis, was closed temporarily on June 8 because of a lack of hot water.

Health workers inspected 146 restaurants and other food service establishments during the period and found 30 with critical food safety violations that were immediately corrected.

They found multiple violations at one place.

Canopy, 8125 Ritchie Highway, Pasadena, was cited for not cooling food properly and not adequately cooking and reheating food.
