The Columbia Festival of the Arts winds down this weekend with the fourth annual Baltimore/Washington Jazzfest, featuring the Jimmy McGriff/Hank Crawford Quartet, Barry Enzman, the Frank Foster Quartet, Rumba Club, Big Jesse Yawn and the Army Blues Jazz Ensemble.

The three-day event will include a "House of Jazz" concert in Columbia's Historic Oakland building, which houses the African Art Museum of Maryland; jazz workshops; music along Lake Kittamaqundi; and a silent auction, proceeds of which will go toward the museum's building fund.

Other musicians playing during Jazzfest are Charles Funn, director of Dunbar High School's jazz band; Glenn Cashman, director of the Towson University Jazz Ensemble; Mark Kramer; the award-winning Glenelg Jazz Ensemble; and vocalist Sue Matthews.

Tomorrow's lineup begins with a free jazz master class in the Galleria at Howard Community College in Columbia. The workshop will be led by Enzman, director of Glenelg High School's Jazz Ensemble.

From 8 p.m. tomorrow until midnight, the museum will play host to the "House of Jazz" concert and the silent auction. Items for bidding include two round-trip airline tickets to South Africa, African art and weekends at local bed-and-breakfast inns.

A free concert at Lake Kittamaqundi will run from 12: 30 p.m. until 5: 30 p.m. Saturday. Jimmy McGriff and Hank Crawford will then take the stage at the Smith Theatre at Howard Community College.

Another free concert along the lake will begin at 12: 30 p.m. Sunday.

This year's festival has attracted several big-name jazz musicians, including saxophonist Branford Marsalis, who opened the festival with a concert at the James Rouse Theatre on June 18.

"House of Jazz" tickets are $40 in advance and $45 at the door. "Jazz Legends in Concert" featuring the Jimmy McGriff/Hank Crawford Quartet are $25 and $30 in advance and at the door.
