Westminster man charged in $5 holdup; Suspect arrested earlier in Baltimore County

THE BALTIMORE SUN

A Westminster man accused of robbing a Finksburg man at gunpoint of $5 was arrested yesterday on charges of armed robbery, assault, reckless endangerment and related offenses, court records show.

An unsecured bond of $50,000 was placed on Matthew Justin Timmons, 19, of the 100 block of Charles St. before he was returned to custody in Baltimore County, where he is being held on unrelated charges, state police said.

After the Baltimore County case is resolved, Timmons will be turned over to Carroll County authorities to resolve the other charges.

According to charging documents, a man was allowed into a home in the 1700 block of Doe Drive in Finksburg on Jan. 29. He then pulled a black and silver pistol, robbed the resident, and fled in a green Toyota 4-Runner truck, charging documents say.

The vehicle was traced to a woman, who had permitted the man to borrow it on the day of the incident, state police in Westminster said. She was uncooperative in providing the name of the suspect.

Troopers subsequently learned his identity, but were unable to locate him before he was arrested in Baltimore County.
