Marian House benefit

THE BALTIMORE SUN

A Baltimore home was the site of a fund-raiser for Baltimore women without homes. Frances Reaves and Tom Koch held a reception in their Otterbein residence to benefit Marian House Inc., a residential, counseling and employment program for homeless women.

Guests of honor at the event were Lt. Gov. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend and Dr. Nathalie Bartle, who signed and sold copies of her new book, "Venus in Blue Jeans: Why Mothers & Daughters Need to Talk About Sex."

Among the 80 women, and men, who helped raise some $10,000 at the party: Sister Augusta Reilly, Marian House executive director; federal Judge Susan Garvey, Marian House board chair; Pattie Batza, Melanie Pereira and Mary Catherine Webb, board members; Brenda Winterling, Harbor Hospital nurse; Tom Magaha, project assistant for Astrachan Gunst Goldman & Thomas; Kostas Alexakis, CEO of USL Financials; and Sandra Long, CFO of the Maryland Lottery.
