Volunteers needed

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Area schools and literacy programs seek volunteers to help children and adults improve reading skills and to assist in related projects.

Among them are:

Mary E. Rodman Elementary School, 3510 W. Mulberry St., which needs volunteer mentors for pupils in grades two through four in a summer program running through next month. Contact: Vice Principal Elner Prater, 410- 396-0508.

Maryland Associates for Dyslexic Adults and Youth, Rotunda, Suite 310, 711 W. 40th St., Baltimore, which provides free services, including remedial tutoring. MADAY needs qualified tutors to work at public sites with people of average or above-average intelligence who are dyslexic, and have low functional reading and low income. Tutors must attend a seven-session training program. The next sessions are planned for next month and September. Information: 410-889-5487.

If your school or organization is seeking volunteer reading tutors and would like to be included in this listing, call Sundial, 410- 783-1800, and enter code 6130.
