State buildings closed today for electrical tests

THE BALTIMORE SUN

The Maryland State House and 13 other state buildings in Annapolis will be closed to visitors and most employees today for tests to ensure that their backup electrical generator systems are ready for any year 2000 computer problems.

As part of the testing, the state Department of General Services will simulate outages of the buildings' main power systems. The buildings will reopen tomorrow unless additional testing is needed.

Besides the State House, these buildings will be closed: Annapolis Data Center, Central Services, Court of Appeals, the new District Court, Government House, House and Senate office buildings, the income tax building, Legislative Services, Old Treasury, State Archives, Tawes Office Complex and the Treasury.
