Brewers: Ron Belliard's homer extended his career-best hitting streak to 10 games. It also started a new string for Milwaukee, whose 13-game home run streak was ended by Thursday night's shutout.

Cardinals: Right fielder Eric Davis returned to the starting lineup after missing six games with a contusion of the left rotator cuff. Manager Tony La Russa and pitching coach Dave Duncan were ejected in the eighth inning for arguing balls and strikes from the dugout.

Reds: Manager Jack McKeon returned after a one-day absence. He was with his wife in North Carolina while she had surgery for breast cancer. Sean Casey was 1-for-3, which dropped his NL-leading average to .377.
