White Sox update
Chicago had won four straight, its second-longest streak of the year, until Tuesday's 3-2 loss to Tampa Bay. With last night's 11-inning win, the White Sox have taken six of eight and nine of 13. They also seized bragging rights in the Windy City by sweeping a three-game series from the Cubs. Frank Thomas' career-best 21-game hitting streak ended last night. During the four-game winning streak, Chicago starters posted a 2.38 ERA. The hitting hasn't been too shabby, either. The White Sox rank fourth in the league with a .282 average. On the downside, their .976 fielding percentage was the AL's worst. The White Sox were swept and outscored 21-7 in a three-game series at Camden Yards in early May. Jeff Conine homered twice off Sirotka in the opener and Juan Guzman threw seven shutout innings in the second game.
