Carmen Perry, 93, whose translation of a Mexican officer's memoir ignited controversy because it described the supposed capture and execution of Davy Crockett at the Alamo, died Friday in San Antonio. Nearly a quarter-century after its publication, "With Santa Anna in Texas: Diary of Jose Enrique de la Pena" remains the subject of debate among historians.
