Class 4A final

No. 2 Severna Park (21-4) : vs. Gaithersburg (16-4)

Time: 3: 30

Site: Randazzo Park

Outlook: The Falcons had it all working in their 5-0 win over Bowie in Tuesday's state semifinal. Senior pitcher Amanda Donaldson allowed three hits and the offensive damage came with two-run second and third innings. Gaithersburg, a 6-0 winner over Perry Hall in the other semifinal, stands in the way of a second state championship for the Falcons, whose first came in 1987. Severna Park is led offensively by sophomore first baseman Lauren Pollock (.514, 16 RBIs), and coach Jeff Shepherd has recently been getting strong contributions from the bottom of the order. Becky Strohmer, batting ninth, had two singles, a run scored and an RBI Tuesday. The Falcons will have to deal with Trojans hurler Shannon Seeley, who had 12 strikeouts and at one point retired 20 straight batters against Perry Hall.
