The Anne Arundel County Department of Health temporarily closed two food service establishments because of emergency circumstances discovered found during inspections between May 1 and May 15.

Bella Mia, 8144 Fort Smallwood Road in Pasadena, was closed for part of May 3 because of a lack of hot water.

Baskin Robbins, 2311-B Forest Drive in Annapolis, was closed for part of May 6 for the same reason.

Health workers inspected 111 restaurants and other food establishments during the period and found 22 with critical food safety violations that were immediately corrected. They found multiple violations at four restaurants:

Guiseppe's Pizza & Pasta, 6711 Governor Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie, was cited for not adequately cooking and reheating food and for not holding food at the proper temperature.

Carrol's Creek Cafe, 410 Severn Ave. in Annapolis; Perry's Grill & Spirits, 1210 Annapolis Road in Odenton; and Jonathan's Restaurant, 5622 Belle Grove Road in Baltimore, were cited for not properly cooling food and for not holding food at the proper temperature.
