She is an honor student and member of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society of two-year colleges. She is active with her sons in Boy Scouts and school.

Sawyers, of New Windsor, is married and has a baby son. A biology major, he is an honor student and an active member of Phi Theta Kappa, and has volunteered at college events.
