Red Sox: Boston tied a season high for runs in an inning with five. Bret Saberhagen threw four innings of a simulated game. He will pitch Thursday for Double-A Trenton.

Tigers: Jeff Weaver is 2-0 with a 2.25 ERA vs. the Indians and is 3-0 on the road. Weaver made the quickest ascension to the majors of any draft pick in team history. Chosen in the first round last summer, he made his debut -- April 14 -- one day sooner than pitcher Dave Lemanczyk, drafted in 1972.

Yankees: Derek Jeter has reached base safely in all 40 games this season. Catcher Mike Figga made his first appearance of the season.

White Sox: John Snyder, who had beaten the Yankees last Saturday in New York, is still 13-4 since coming to the majors last June.
