Rangers update
Outfielder Juan Gonzalez (hamstring) has missed the past seven games but may return tonight. So could shortstop Royce Clayton (shoulder), who has been on a rehab assignment. He's expected to join the Rangers in Baltimore. His club's 5.77 ERA ranks near the bottom in the AL, but its offense continues to make up for most transgressions. A .291 average going into yesterday trailed only Cleveland (.310). The Rangers took three of four from the Orioles in Arlington last week. Morgan won the first game despite allowing five runs in five innings. Helling was far more effective in the third game, holding the Orioles to one run over eight innings. Sele took a beating Sunday, giving up nine runs and 11 hits in 2 1/3 innings. Rafael Palmeiro tortured his former team, going 7-for-14 with two homers and six RBIs. Through Wednesday, he led the AL in hitting at .377.
