No. 1 Arundel eliminated by 10-10 Chesapeake, 2-0; Glen Burnie tops Pats, makes first region final; Class 4A baseball

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Senior Mike Bois knocked in two runs in leading unranked Chesapeake-AA to a 2-0 upset yesterday over top-ranked Arundel in a Class 4A East regional semifinal.

Bois homered in the third inning on a hanging curveball from Dave Strarlings and added an insurance run in the fifth, when his sacrifice fly scored Jesse Palmasiano.

Chesapeake (11-10) will meet Glen Burnie, a 5-3 winner over Old Mill, for the regional crown.

The win was the second this season for the Cougars over Arundel; the Cougars won the first meeting, 3-2.

"We played our best defense all year," Chesapeake coach Chip Snyder said about last night's game. "Anytime we play [Arundel], our kids really get psyched."

Mike Pierpoint pitched a four-hit shutout for Chesapeake, striking out four and walking none.
