Robert Benjamin Bartlett, 72, electrical engineer

Robert Benjamin Bartlett, a retired electrical engineer, died of cancer Sunday at Anne Arundel Medical Center. He was 72 and lived in Severna Park.

Mr. Bartlett joined the Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. in 1951 and retired in 1991 as manager of the electric test department.

The Baltimore native grew up on McKewin Avenue near Memorial Stadium and later lived in Northwood, where he served the Northwood Baseball League as coach, director and chief commissioner. He moved to Severna Park in 1989.

A graduate of Polytechnic Institute, he received electrical engineering and mechanical engineering degrees from the Johns Hopkins University.

In retirement, the World War II Navy veteran was a volunteer on the Liberty ship John Brown and served on its board of directors.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 31 Rowe Blvd., Annapolis.

He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Heil, whom he married in 1952; a son, Randy Bartlett of Springfield, Va.; two daughters, Sharon Zepp of Millersville and Barbara Menges of Finksburg; a brother, William A. Bartlett of Baltimore; and six grandchildren.
