Driver gets 3 months in jail in fatality

THE BALTIMORE SUN

A Hanover motorist who accidentally killed a pedestrian on an unlighted bend in Telegraph Road was sentenced yesterday to three months in jail.

Anne Arundel County Circuit Judge Pamela L. North sentenced James Q. Walker, 22, of the 7600 block of Ridge Chapel Road to one year, then suspended nine months and imposed five years' probation.

Walker pleaded guilty in March to drunken driving in the death in July of Michael A. Kinstler, 29, of the 7700 block of Ridge Chapel Road.

Walker was charged with manslaughter, but prosecutors said they doubted they could prove his guilt. The victim was drunk and had bent over in a traffic lane about 1: 30 a.m., probably to pick up cigarettes, when he was struck by Walker's car, prosecutors said.
