Mineral and gem show

Want to see a rock show Saturday? No, not in the music hall. Try poring over tables of minerals, crystals, fossils and gems at the Mineral and Jewelry Show at Goucher College. More than 40 sellers and craftspeople will be offering lapidary art, and nine professional mineral and jewelry dealers will show off their stones. See demonstrations on stone-cutting, stone-carving and wax model-making. The Chesapeake Gem and Mineral Society of Baltimore sponsors the event.

The show runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Kraushaar Auditorium and the outside Pavilion at Goucher College, 1021 Dulaney Valley Road in Towson. Rain or shine. Free. Call 410-828-0024.

'Watershed Day'

Learn about the Patuxent Reservoirs and their tributary streams Saturday at Supplee Park in Laurel. "Patuxent Reservoirs Watershed Day" offers hands-on exhibits and demonstrations, workshops on storm-drain stenciling and stream monitoring, a fishing derby for children under 16 (with own gear and bait), an introduction to canoeing, walks at the reservoir's edge, a bird's-eye view of the reservoir from an observation tower, lessons on wildlife and more. Food and music for the whole family.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Supplee Park, off Brooklyn Bridge Road on the Rocky Gorge Reservoir in Laurel. Free. Call 301-262-9300.
