Today's program at Pimlico headlines the $75,000 Skipat Stakes, with Liable, trained by Frank Brothers, the projected favorite.
The filly is seeking her third straight victory, with Edgar Prado up, but faces a number of serious challengers, including Passeggiata.
Passeggiata, the Barbara Fritchie winner, returns to Maryland after two abortive attempts to win out-of-town stakes. She had a four-race winning streak before that.
This is a MATCH race for older fillies and mares.
Pimlico announced that total betting for Special Day increased 15.53 percent from last year to more than $7 million.
The major increase came from money bet out of state on the Maryland base card, which included a whopping 27.38 percent increase to $4.22 million.
